I wish, I wish, A Custom Floor!

I wish, I wish, A Custom Floor!

I want something dramatic!

Clients frequent say this when they come in to discuss the stain color on their floor. It's generally followed by, "I don't want what my neighbors have on their floor.

"I want people to come in and think, whoa, this is a custom floor!" This is where Schmidt Custom Floors can take that thought, and makes it a reality, because custom floors are our specialty!A few months ago, we started the initial process of picking out wood flooring with one of our clients. When they came into the showroom, we started discussing the different types of wood species and what would be a good match for their lifestyle and family. We looked at everything from traditional to exotic woods and finally landed on 4" white oak. They liked the white oak because of its durability and grain patterns and, unlike red oak, it would pull more brown tones than red.

Color

After finalizing their species of wood, we moved on to the decision of stain color and tone. This part of the process is fun and exciting as it involves seeing different colors and finishes. It's the part of the process that really starts to bring all of the color choices and accents together.Going with our client's design preferences, we decided to lead them in the direction of European Oiled floors. With a European Oiled floor, our client's could customize their stain color more so than a traditional stain. Thus, achieving an overall "custom" floor look they were desiring. In the end, our clients decided to go with a dark chocolate brown stain.

The Final Product

Once we finished the floor they turned out beautifully! The client's choices came out perfectly and created exactly what they were looking for, a unique floor that would "whoa" their neighbors. The wide plank floor was a great complement to a more traditional, dark stain. In the end, we could not have been happier.
