Cool And Breezy

It's Summertime!

Summer will be here in a few weeks but the days are already heating up. It's time to refresh your home for a cool and breezy summer. Here are some tips on making your home summer ready.

Lighten Up

Spring cleaning is one of the projects we face when the weather starts to get warmer. Whether you do a little or lot, when it comes to windows, a little effort can make a big impact. The glass of your windows isn't the only thing that gets dirty over the winter. Screens trap dirt, dust and bugs. Air blowing through dirt and dust not only smells bad, it is blowing dirt right back into your clean home. Make sure your screens, windows and sills are clean so you can truly enjoy those fresh morning breezes. If you have ceiling fans, blades should be dust-free. These are often overlooked and another source of blowing dust.

Take down heavy dark curtains and draperies and clean blinds and shutters. (The whole window thing is really made up of layers.) Try hanging panels in light fabrics or sheers. This is a great way to bring a new color into your room. Are you really feeling fuchsia or lemon yellow this year? Introduce them into your room through curtain panels, roman shades, vases, artwork, rugs and pillows.Clean dark heavy rugs and roll them up for storage. For the summer months, try a rug with an open abstract, geometric pattern or bright floral print. We have a wide variety of choices for custom rugs and carpet. Visit our showroom and let us help you create a one-of-a-kind rug for your home.

Pop Goes The Color

Fresh flowers and pretty glass vases are like jewelry for your room. Brighten your table with colorful place settings and casual floral arrangements. Carry some of the color into adjacent rooms in open floor plans. It's a wonderful way to welcome guests and start celebrating summer!

Sleep Cool

Are you still pulling back comforters and blankets when it's bedtime? Heavy bedding should be cleaned and packed away with the dark draperies and woolen throws.Select light-weight linens and coverlets, instead. Sheer curtain panels of white or pastels allow more light in the room and make it feel open and airy. Add pops of bright color to soft white bed linens and bedside tables. One of the easiest ways to freshen your home is with new paint. Now is a great time to introduce a new color palette into your home. If you're not sure about painting the whole room, try an accent wall. Incorporate the color of the wall throughout the main living area. Don't forget to add those pops of summer color, and ENJOY!
